NORTHSTAR MORGAN HORSE SHOW

Just days before leaving for Vegas I had the opportunity of singing a cappella the National Anthem as well as the Canadian Anthem (1st time singing that one) at the Northstar Morgan Horse show held in the Coliseum at the State Fair. Sarah Moses, owner of The Pageant Shop set it all up and also owns a Morgan which she showed that night. It was very interesting as it was my 1st time being involved in such a show. Being escorted through the dirt, handing out the award to the winner and meeting such wonderful people involved with the show. It was a great night. Thanks again Sarah for the opportunity!

Mrs. United States "Send Off" Party

Well, the time has almost come for my exciting trip to Vegas to compete in the Mrs. United States Pageant! A dear pageant friend of mine, Angeline Gard was very generous in throwing a "Send Off" party for me at her home. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon (July 1st) which a few of us ladies got together to talk "pageant" and just enjoy each others company and the great day! You see the majority of us there that day have competed with each other over the years in the Mrs. MN America System and have become great friends:) Thank you to ALL for coming and thanks again Angeline for hosting. Each and every one of you are a very special part of my life and I wouldn't be the person I am today without all of your support and help!!!
P.S. Those of you who couldn't make it due to the busy pre-holiday weekend, I know you were there in spirit and I love you all too:)

Oakdale Parade

My first parade as Mrs. MN United States was fun indeed! A friend from the 2005 Mrs. MN America Pageant, Patricia Peterson and her "gang" from City & County Credit Union, Lake Elmo set everything up including the convertible for me to ride in. It was great talking with Patricia (a.k.a Nena) as well as meeting and talking with her co-workers. It was a great time, especially the little kids that blew me kisses and the young teenage boys that had to come up to the car and give me high-five's:) Of course waiting for the parade to get started took some time at which many other queen's and princesses came up to have their pictures taken with me! It was a GREAT night and thanks again Nena for hooking me up!

Well, here we go! I am a first time blogger, so be patient with me, I'm learning:)

Just to give you a little background, I grew up on a dairy farm in WI and entered my first pageant at the age of 15. It was a scholarship pageant and figured it would be a good way to earn some scholarships for college. Never did I imagine winning but I won the title of Jr. WI National Teen-Ager in 1993. Was in the Jr. Miss Wisconsin pageant in 1994 and then competed for the Sr. WI National Teen-Ager title in 1995, resulting in 1st Runner-up.

So I graduated, went to college and life took a different course. Got married, had my son Christian and decided to enter a married pageant. I really had no idea what I was getting into entering the Mrs MN America System. Everyone seemed to have pageant coaches, personal trainers, and a wardrobe in the thousands of dollars. WOW!! So that year wasn't great at all competing wise but I did meet some great women that I am very good friends with yet today. I came back to this system a couple more times, each time improving. I then decided to give it a rest when I started receiving emails to enter the Mrs. MN United States Pageant, so after much thought I decided to enter especially after the entry fee was reduced due to lack of interest from the state of MN which hasn't had a state competition for this system in a number of years. So I entered, figured I had nothing to loose and it would be great motivation to loose some extra pounds I had put on.

Well needless to say I ended up the lone contestant and was crowned April 23rd (two days before my 30th birthday) as Mrs. MN United States 2007!! It was exciting to meet and be crowned by the current Mrs. United States, Shannon Devine! Many others attended this dual purpose get together (Meet-n-Greet Mrs. United States, Shannon Devine and my crowning).

It has taken a bit for it all to sink in but I am looking forward to a wonderful year representing the state of MN and competing at nationals July 8 - 12.

I am excited to be involved in my community and state.
